La ciudad sensible al agua

Abstract

Las ciudades enfrentan y enfrentarán desafíos que llevarán a la humanidad a escenarios muy difíciles ya que el agua escaseará de manera intensa y frecuente a partir del 2030. Otro dato que complica más esta situación, es que más del 50$ de los habitantes del planeta habitarán el planeta Tierra, lo que invita a reflexión. ¿De que manera los recursos hídricos pueden ser garantizados para el abastecimiento de las presentes y futuras generaciones. En este contexto surge el concepto de “Ciudad sensible al agua”, como respuesta al deterioro del ciclo del agua por la urbanización desordena, planteando nuevas formas de planeación urbana con alta sensibilidad al funcionamiento del ciclo y al de las infraestructuras hidrosanitarias urbanas. Así que, el libro The Water Sensitive City surgen en medio de un contexto de escasez creciente donde las ciudades son de los principales demandantes de agua.

PhD in Urban Planning from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, head of the Sustainable Urban Architectural Technology Laboratory (latau), editor of the magazine Vivienda y Comunicaciones Sustentables, SNI II.
